Moda Fat Quarter Bundles are convenient professionally cut assortments of color-coordinated 18x21-inch fat quarters. A fat quarter is a 1/4-yard piece of fabric measuring 18 inches by half the width of the fabric. Put another way, a 1/2-yard piece of fabric cut in half along the bolt fold would yield two fat quarters. In contrast, a skinny quarter measures 9 inches by the full width of the fabric. So in the case of quilting fabrics which are typically 44 inches wide, a fat quarter would measure 18x21 inches and a skinny quarter would measure 9x44 inches. Thus the word 'fat' - a fat quarter is twice as wide but half as long as a skinny quarter - yielding a more versatile 1/4-yard cut of fabric for a variety of quilting, apparel, home decor and craft projects.
Hushabye Hollow imagines the nighttime ritual of a forested valley abundant with little creatures. A glass of milk 'night-cap' for a sleepy owl, a beaver brushing his teeth after a long day of chomping and a skunk taking a bath with a bucket in the woods. There's also a fox strumming a lullaby on the lute for a curious mouse and the man on the moon reading himself to sleep. These motifs are accompanied by vines and soft florals, ladybugs of the forest and pin-dots, vintage ticking and all of the animals in their slumber. These fabrics are perfect for boys and girls alike with their soft colors and timeless feel.
Lydia's love for quilting and design didn't begin in earnest until she was in her 20s. Lydia loves designing for children because with children in mind the capacity for creativity is limitless. Lydia's design process ensures that each design is original; she will often take her camera outside to capture flora and fauna on film. She then hand sketches her photos and converts them into a print. Neutral palettes and designs are essential to Lydia. Her favorite medium for illustrating is watercolor paper and pencil.
